About Me/Contact Me

For starters, in the left panel of this page you will find an abbreviated curriculum vitae through the present.

Prior to the 1970's, I was busy growing up from being a happy child in his mother's arms, gaining very diverse life experience - - from small farm life to factory floor to active duty in the military - - and encountering the usual trials and tribulations experienced during schooling and in trying becoming a somewhat socialized member of the human tribe.

One always has critical formative experiences along the path that, upon reflection, stand out as the most influential on your psyche, and I'm no exception to that rule.  Among the many professional influences on my life, a couple seem worth mentioning here.

  • James Cowan, Phd (now deceased) was the founder and first editor of the D.H.Lawrence Review at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and was my major professor when I was doing graduate work there in the early seventies.  Jim was a very rare and bright bird, opening the doors of perception through his understanding and teaching of literature, and simply through his dynamic presence.  Like Lawrence, he lived in the fire.  I happily take the time and space to salute him.

  • Another great teacher and friend has been - and still is  - Diana Lightmoon, one of Santa Fe's unsung treasures.  (See Lotus Heart Wisdom link.) A highly skilled practitioner of many therapeutic modalities, including Rosen Method Body Work* which is where I first came under her influence, she has also more recently been my guide in the practice of meditation and in the study of Buddhist philosophy.  *First introduced to me by Elisabeth Dearborn, a magician in her own right.

While I do not claim to be a Buddhist - there are too many different definitions of what that means - there is much of value to learn from this ancient practice about self-awareness and about taking a moral stance in the world.

From mid-2008 through July 2011, I gave all to finishing my novel, Bella Coola: The Rainforest Brought Them Home.

From 2009 through 2010, I served as Chairman of the national non-profit Citizens for Global Solutions that educates and lobbies for global solutions to global problems under the banner of World Peace.

Since July of 2010 I've been busy being trained by my fabulous dog Blue Bear, a mix of Border Collie and Leopard Catahoula.

In addition, I've continued fundraising consulting for non-profit advocacy organizations, and wrote for the Green Fire Times for a couple of years.

Finally, I'm very pleased to end this introduction with the announcement of the recent (September 2016) fifth anniversary of my marriage to Karen Jean Walker, a warm, kind, bright and loving human being I am fortunate to love, and be loved by.
